The Shadow that bred them can only mock, it cannot make: not real new things of its own. – J.R.R. Tolkien
In our current environment, we are quick to dismantle and destroy ideas that do not align to our truths. We demonize ideas and organizations that do not adhere to our believed truths. However, this is not the way of God. Jesus said to his disciples in Mark 9:40, “whoever is not against us is for us” which is a revolutionary idea. Human nature highlights things we view as opposition. God’s nature highlights things that are in agreement. May the reader please realize that I am not saying that you are to accept every idea that has a grain of Truth. However, the reader should recognize the grain of Truth, and use that grain to lead the deceived to the whole Truth. Treating a grain of Truth as the end all will inevitably lead to sin at best and damnation at worst, but trying to lead an individual to the full Truth will lead to a loss of a relationship at worst and salvation of a soul for all eternity at best. Paraphrasing a Penn Jillette, an avowed atheist, either Christians are the most coldhearted people in the world or do not believe the words in their own Holy Book. The threat of damnation is terrifying. Therefore, speak the Truth boldly and be not afraid to speak with individuals who are on the path to damnation and lead them away from deceptive truths to the light.
For there will be a time when people will not tolerate sound teaching. Instead, following their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves, because they have an insatiable curiosity to hear new things.— 2 Timothy 4:3
