Your blood paints the paragon of unrequited love – Phinehas, “Crowns,” Thegodmachine
God truly loves us. Not only as a father loves a child, but also as a husband loves a wife. For you see, though we are sons of God, we are also the Bride of Christ. Christ was promised the Church as His Bride, which is us. It is why we are called to obedience. Not because He is commanding us, but because He wants to help us fulfill our dreams and wants to inspire us to have dreams that are larger than anything we can currently imagine. Likewise, it helps put into perspective how personally our sins hurt God – specifically Jesus.
When we sin, we are like a wife having an affair. Not only is it evil and defiles the sacredness of marriage, but it also is the ultimate act of betrayal against the husband. It ruins the relationship and takes time to rebuild that which we have built with Jesus. However, Jesus is such a loving and forgiving husband that He forgives us as soon as we turn back to Him and repent. He washes us clean as if nothing has ever happened. He is a paragon of forgiveness even though we are masters of unfaithfulness. Then, in spite of the pain we cause Him, once we turn and say “I have sinned,” He, then, instead of being angry, takes us by the hand and brings us back to where we were, continuing to guide us to our greatest dreams. All He asks in return is one thing – that we love Him. How do we love Him? By obeying Him.
So then, let us not continue to live sinful lives that crush the heart of our Lord and Savior, who gave up His very own life to save us from eternal suffering, and instead return joyful to the Lord and live obedient lives to the Good Master. As we live obedient lives, do not be discouraged whenever you fall short of His glory. Even when we fall to depths of sin and lose faith in Him, He is always at our side, ready to help and return as soon as we turn back and cry out “I need You!” He is the Good Master, the most perfect role model of a husband that every man should strive to be.
I will sprinkle you with pure water, and you will be clean from all your impurities. I will purify you from all your idols. I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will remove the heart of stone from your body and give you a heart of flesh. I will put my Spirit within you; I will take the initiative, and you will obey my statutes and carefully observe my regulations. Then you will live in the land I gave to your fathers; you will be my people, and I will be your God. I will save you from all your uncleanness. I will call for the grain and multiply it; I will not bring a famine on you. – Ezekiel 36:25-29
